About

Abigail (A.W.) Geiger is a freelance photographer and correspondent based in Florida.

In her work, she explores what it means and what it takes to live in an ever-shifting and ever-threatened world through the perspective of the beings most affected.

She regularly works in photojournalism and portraiture, entirely on film; reporting and writing; and editing. She also mentors.

A journalist by trade and training, Abigail has nearly a decade of professional experience in local, online, national and international news and other journalistic environments. Her work has been published in a variety of publications, including The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Grist, among others; syndicated to national publications; and cited by news, government, nonprofit and academic organizations and researchers. Prior to freelancing, she held staff roles and published work at The New Humanitarian, Pew Research Center, the York Daily Record, among others.

Her work has been supported by the International Women’s Media Foundation, the Society of Professional Journalists and Investigative Reporters and Editors. She is an active member of SPJ and IRE. She holds degrees in journalism and political science from the University of Missouri.

She is open to assignments and commissions and can travel anywhere.
